Background
BICA Maputo is one of Mozambique's best-known coffee shops, recognized for introducing hip new products and experiences to its customers. To continue growing the brand, BICA wanted to explore products that could be enjoyed outside the café while remaining true to its approach to trendy coffee.
02.
Challenge
During Maputo's summer, temperatures regularly exceed 40°C, reducing demand for hot coffee and limiting sales during some of the busiest months of the year. BICA needed a product that could perform in a hot climate, introduce customers to coffee in a new format and create opportunities beyond the café.

03.
Our Solution
We partnered with BICA to develop Café Geladinho, a bottled cold brew made using BICA's coffee and a simple recipe consisting of coffee and Vumba mineral water. Through recipe development and taste testing, we refined the flavor profile to produce a smooth, approachable drink that appealed to both existing customers and first-time cold brew drinkers.
Alongside the product, we designed the bottle packaging and launch campaign, creating a portable format that could be sold in cafés, markets and events throughout the city.

04.
Design
The product was designed to feel like an extension of the BICA experience rather than a separate beverage. The packaging drew from the café's existing identity while introducing a format that customers could easily carry, photograph and enjoy throughout the day.
A QR code on the label connected the physical product to BICA's digital presence, encouraging customers to discover more of the brand and share their experience online.

05.
Impact
By adapting the product to Mozambique's climate and customers' daily routines, we created a new way for people to experience the brand while unlocking new revenue streams for BICA.
Clear flavor balance and a smooth profile made it approachable for first-time buyers.
Key Metrics
Produced and sold hundreds of bottles during the initial launch without operational complexity.
